Practical Experience:

I have been HIV positive for over 13 year. I have served my community in the capacity of Social Work and home and medical advisor. There can be no better work experience in the field of HIV assistance/social work/counseling, than to have lived in the community as long as I have.

I run a Mentor Ministry from my home, and I am currently following several young men and have been for several years. I find that this is one of the most rewarding work related fields I have been in in as many years.

I am also in recovery now, 5 years, but familiar with the program for over 10 years. I have volunteered in drug crisis/addictions drop in centers in Montreal, and I am currently a trusted servant for my Home Group of AA, here in Montreal, as acting Treasurer.

Work Experience:

1. I have worked assorted odd jobs in my youth
2. I worked in the field of Travel from 1984 through until 1993, the last travel related location I worked was for Royal Caribbean International, during the Sovereign Class builds.
3. In 1994 I was diagnosed with AIDS and given months to live, that was then, this is now.
I did what I had to do to survive. I have experience in Night Club operations, stock, bussing, bar backing and most importantly, Technical Lighting and Production. This work carried me through until late 2001.
4. My subsequent move to Montreal in the Spring of 2004, facilitated a return to the halls of Higher Education, where I am studying Religion as a Major and I am currently due to graduate in May of 2007. I am currently not employed.
5. I am involved in the HIV community at large and in Canada. I am also involved with the recovery (drug and alcohol addictions counseling) and the rooms of recovery in Montreal.
6. I also run what is called a “Mentor Circle” for troubled young adults, those in transition, and those in difficulty. I have been working in these fields for over 5 years now, and that takes up much of my free time. As being a mentor is a 24/7 365 day job. But I find it truly a blessing and also rewarding.

Goals:

I hope to find work in the field of Pastoral Care after my graduation from University, I will be seeking my Masters in Theology, in the area of Pastoral Ministry. I believe that my bond to my faith life has been the area that I have been most interested in persuing. My roots in religion are long standing and reach back well into my past, with my subsequent stint at Seminary. I left on my own accord due to the one fact that I could not place Jesus and Politics in the same sentance, at that stage of my personal and religious development. As well, later on my life took a markedly turn and I ended up here.

This does not speak of my lack of faith or persuance of anything immoral. This is the life that I lived, and with that Life comes much experience and trial and most importantly the fact that I persevered and I lived, when all of my fellows and friends did not. They are all dead, and I am here today. So this must tell you that some facet of my faith life has brought me to this point.

I have published several scholarly articles in the Concordia University Christian Students Association Journal for 2004 and 2005. I currently have one prepared book manuscript finished and is ready for final editing and publishing. I also currenly keep this blog for my academic and scholarly and ministry writings, and am featured on several blogs for my religious scholarly writing.

I believe that What I am is only a part of the more important WHO I am, when it comes to work, ministry and education. The above information is for your information and tells you a story of how I came to be who I am today. If you find something of interest and you wish to follow up with some offer of work or publishing, by all means let me know.

But at my age, discrimination based on sexual orientation for me is a non issue and is unacceptible. And as well it goes against the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. There is much I can offer the world, and I beleive that it is hight time that the world give back - that which I have given it for over two decades of my life.

I am tired of working for free…
